Skills Development and Transformation driven company, Progression, announced an increase in its (Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment) B-BBEE scorecard from a level 2 to a level 1, based on the old codes. “I am very proud that our commitment to transformation has resulted in us achieving a Level 1 score,” states Beth Cook, founder and CEO of Progression.
The news comes at a time when there has been much discussion around the release of the revised B-BBEE Codes of Good Practise. “There are elements of the new codes that are going to challenge business in SA,” states Beth, “however we must remain mindful of the fact that the spirit of B-BBEE allows for incredible opportunities for many South Africans if it is used effectively.”
Progression believes that including transformation as a core business value and reflecting it within the organisation’s policies and procedures is crucial to ensuring successful implementation.
“While maintaining our score under the new codes may present a challenge, Progression is still committed to the spirit of transformation and will continue to invest in initiatives that support an environment where the demographics of all South Africans are represented across the landscape of our organisation and communities.”
