Butterflies of the Month Show the Way to Success.
December 14 2017 By Progression
Progression was elated to attend the recent graduation of 3 remarkable learners who have reached every learner’s ultimate goal - moving from learner to permanent employee.
Colin Gooderham, Kutlwano Molebatsi and Lebogang Lekwana are our Butterflies of the Month for December and January. These learners started their journey at Babcock four years ago and have successfully completed a number of learnerships.
Kutlwano Molebatsi has completed Business Administration NQF level 3 and 4 learnerships as well as an Accounting Technician NQF level 3 learnership at Babcock. Kutlwano states that being part of a multimillion rand company while working towards his own goals motivated him to take part in these learnerships.
He goes on to highlight the importance of having an education and up-skilling yourself by stating, “With continuous technological advancements and the need for skilled employees, it is vital for individuals to become literate in at least one field.” The field that Kutlwano has chosen to pursue is that of Finance. He currently holds the position of Finance Administrator at Babcock.
Kutlwano goes on to say, “I urge other learners to commit themselves to their goals and always be eager to learn new things”.
Our second butterfly of the month, Colin Gooderham, currently holds the position of Document Administrator in the Engineering Department of Babcock.
Throughout his learnership, Colin has grown tremendously both in his personal and professional capacity. “I have had a boost in self- confidence and overall happiness. I also gained valuable workplace experience and furthered my education,” comments Colin.
Colin highlights the importance of perseverance in achieving success by explaining, “Don’t be daunted by what you have to get through. Study hard, work with your mentor and remain positive.”
Lebogang Lekwana is the third Butterfly of December. Lebo is currently completing her Supply Chain Management learnership and is based in the Technical Department of Babcock under her mentor, Garry Webber.
Lebo has accomplished an array of impressive achievements during her time at Babcock. “I have successfully completed 2 learnerships in Business Administration NQF Level 3 and 4. I have acquired, and continue to gain, valuable experience and even got a chance to work in the workshop where I gained an understanding of warranty. I am also now permanently employed by Babcock as a Procurement Administrator,” says Lebo.
After spending two years at home, unemployed, this learnership opportunity gave Lebo hope. “I wanted something that will build and groom my path in the working environment. I thought that trying something new might shape me into a better person,” explains Lebo.
Indeed, it did. “Personally, I have gained a lifetime of wisdom and knowledge,” admits Lebo.
We are honoured to have been a part of their journey and wish them the best of luck on their new path as permanent employees of Babcock.
