Career Skills Training

Preparing candidates for the open labour market and for the closure of their formal training initiative takes place in two parts. The first module is Career Skills Support Training which takes candidates through a short CV Writing course. The course aims to prepare them for prospective placement and teaches them how to promote their employability. Further subject matter includes how to create captive front pages and how to include relevant references and contacts. During the short course candidates have the opportunity to reflect on new skills learnt and fully understand their abilities and how to promote the value they can bring to the workplace.
The second module is Job Search Training which focuses on preparing the candidates for interviews. The course includes a comprehensive list of the Top 50 frequently asked questions in interviews with models and processes on how to understand and answer the questions effectively. The learner has an opportunity to reflect on the full expanse of their training initiative by analysing the progress made throughout the year and managing their expectations for the future.

Computer Literacy Training

Progression follows a holistic approach to project managing skills development initiatives, which includes bridging skills for first-time entrants into the workplace. In keeping with this approach of work readiness for first-time entrants, Computer Literacy training is offered prior to the commencement of any formal training initiative with the objective of creating usable, workplace relevant computer skills. Computer Literacy training is a short course offering basic PC skills which speak to the needs of first-time computer users.  The approach is practical and hands-on and includes Microsoft Outlook, Powerpoint, Word and Excel. All equipment and software is provided by the Progression Training Academy for the duration of the course. 

Disability Awareness Training Programs

Progression is a leader in the crafting of capacity building of Disability and Awareness programs which speak to a variety of audiences including Human Resource Departments; Employment Equity, Disability, or Diversity forums; managers and general staff. Generic and bespoke packages are available depending on the nature of the desired organisational outcomes. All initiatives are interactive, provoke attitudinal change and empower delegates to follow best practice thus reducing discriminatory behaviour within the workplace. Capacity Building programs include (but are not limited to) recruitment of people with disabilities, sustainable management of disability in the workplace, a best practice human capital value analysis process, and the managing of an end-to-end employment cycles for people with disabilities.

Disability Employment Equity Strategy

A Disability Employment Equity Strategy is necessary in achieving a formalised approach to disability in the workplace. A clear understanding of disability within the South African legislative context assists in developing policies and guidelines which follow a non-discriminatory, inclusive approach. Progression assists organisations to develop a strategy which follows best practise and which speaks to the organisations strategic and compliance objectives. Diversity Training

Life Skills Training

Life Skills training is offered prior to the commencement of any formal training initiatives with the objective of improving individuals’ interpersonal skills. Subject matter such as goal-setting, effective time management, communication skills, appropriate workplace presentation and the importance of punctuality, ensure that first-time entrants are prepared to meet the job or learning requirements and are able to adapt to any organisational culture. Training is interactive and offers learners the opportunity to better understand their strengths and where opportunities for growth lie. It prepares them to take accountability and responsibility for their behaviour and mobilises them toward their desired position.

Sexual Harassment Training

Sexual harassment is a sensitive and imperative discussion that needs to take place within the workplace. Progression addresses sexual harassment using a holistic approach which addresses the legislative context and legal implications as well as the recognition of and beliefs surrounding sexual harassment in the workplace. A sexual harassment initiative will be unique for each company and could include (but is not limited to), climate surveys, policy or guideline development, management training and employee workshops.
